The platform's design philosophy of clean sheets allows for the optimal placement of battery packs and a lower center of gravity, which results in better payload-to-range ratios. The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries as well as catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 configuration's one wall structure in the interior and higher insulation compared to traditional trucks allows for seamless sanitation, better temperature control and a longer life. GreenPower joined forces with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems. This will enable fleets to easily move to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW. We were allowed to test drive the EV9 on the local highway for a few hours. We found it easy to drive and comfortable to drive over long distances. The EV9 can block road noise and wind while on the highway. It glides effortlessly over ruts and humps. The car's acceleration is surprisingly quick, and it features adjustable regenerative brakes that permit “one-pedal driving” simply by releasing the accelerator. The EV9 is extremely reliable and can be fully recharged within three hours at home or using any commercial charger. The driver can select from two operating modes – eco mode and sport mode. The eco mode is a preference for torque and cruise control while the sport mode maximizes speed and handling. Both are a lot of fun to drive and provide an unique experience for anyone that has never driven an electric vehicle before. In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other electric vehicles, including a multi-purpose all-electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be utilized as an executive shuttle, transit or micro-transit vanpool, bus or paratransit vehicle. GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star buses per month for Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 electric vehicles. With the Biden Administration planning to electrify school buses across the country, GreenPower plans on ramping production to meet demand.
